Creative Concept & Design for the VM & Display Show

I've been working on this creative concept for the VM & Display Show since I returned from maternity leave. I was briefed by IDL Colourlink to design an exhibition stand that captured visitors imaginations, left them feeling inspired and showed a broad array of services that the company offer.

The design started as a triangle structure making full use of the 6x4 metre space, areas of interest showing various materials were positioned to be seen from every angle as you walked around the stand.

The result was an installation that played with contrast and texture, untreated metalwork was lined up next to fur lined plinths. Each hanging panel was either printed or hand-finished to show the company's diverse range of in-house capibilities.

It was great to see visitors interact with the display, touching the surfaces of each component. It's this immersive experience we need to now focus on within the Visual Merchandising industry. As well as freelancing I'm also Creative Director at IDL Colourlink, if you have any queries about what you've seen here or want to know more about IDL Colourlink get in touch.

The Parenting Chapter

Variations of the logo for multiple digital platforms

Branding applied to The Parenting Chapter website

Branding / Artwork for social media platforms

It was a pleasure to work on a brand identity for a new start up company called; 'The Parenting Chapter'. The business will provide parenting courses in everything from breastfeeding to financial advice for new parents.

Company owner Lauren, wanted branding that appealed to both men and women seeking information and guidance about their new offspring.

I was given an open brief to create all brand assets and took inspiration from mark making -playing on a childlike theme. I chose a minimal colour palette that classically depicts both sexes with a clean, impactful font.

Throwback Thursday! While clearing through the endless paperwork on my desk this afternoon I came across this interview I did for OFFICE magazine a few years ago. Thought you might like a read...

Refreshing that the fundamental key elements of VM havent changed, they seem to have just become overlaid with new technologies and a more curious audience.

Stand Design for the VM & Display Show

In early 2016 I was tasked with designing an exhibition stand for VCG Colourlink for their yearly appearance at the VM & Display Show. They wanted a stand that captured the imagination of the visitors and provided an interactive mechanic. By combining current fashion trends and their extensive product range I've created a visual feast of ideas that invites the viewer to touch and feel every element and provokes a conversation.

I've used the back of the stand to showcase direct print to wood and changeable magnetic graphics. The social media competition invites people to create their own mood board and upload their entry to Instagram.

Check it out if you can, the show is on tomorrow at the Business Design Centre, Islington.

Retail Design Expo

Inspiration galore at this years Retail Design Expo, a great mix of direct suppliers, new materials and creative agencies. I've always found this show relatively lack lustre with too many print suppliers so this year was a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to applying some new techniques and materials in to future projects.
